Joshua Flournoy
IA & MO Realtor ®/Land Specialist
Joshua grew up tromping around on the family farm in the Pineywoods Region of Deep East Texas, in Angelina County, where he loved hunting, fishing and camping with his dad. The farming and ranching traditions run deep in Joshua's family in both east and west Texas, dating back over 75 years, where his family has raised Cattle, Cotton, and Pine Trees, and still do to this day. His early life experiences developed in him a strong and abiding connection with the land and the benefits and pride of land ownership. Joshua and his wife Julie have 13 children, have raised most of them in the Midwest over the last 17 years, and presently reside with 11 of their children in northern Lucas County, Iowa, between Chariton and Knoxville. Joshua is a licensed realtor in both Iowa and Missouri.
Joshua's biggest outdoor passion is bowhunting for big Whitetail bucks and traveling to hunt. He grew up hunting from a young age and started bowhunting at age 14, which ignited a lifelong passion, and 30 years later he has hunted in 24 states, Mexico, and 2 Canadian provinces for Big Game, Turkey, Upland Game, & Waterfowl. He is a member of the Iowa Bowhunters Association.
Prior to starting his career as a Land Realtor in southern Iowa, Joshua was self-employed for 25 years and built 2 successful businesses from the ground up, eventually selling both of them to move on to the next challenge. At age 19 he became a graphic designer and specialized in building hunting related web sites. 8 years later his family moved to the Hocking Hills tourism region in Ohio and built and ran a vacation rental business, Ash Ridge Cabins, which they sold after 16 years of very successful operation in a highly competitive market. Having personal interaction with thousands of customers in over 2 decades as business owners, Joshua and his wife practiced some basic yet core principles: Tell the Truth; Keep Your Word; Be On Time; Be Friendly & Hospitable; and "A Good Picture is Worth a Thousand Words." Joshua places premium importance on good quality photos for successful marketing. He is also an FAA Certified Drone Pilot and will use his Video/Photo Drone as a key tool to help put together a top-shelf Land for Sale listing. He will put his extensive sales and marketing experience to work to help landowners realize a profitable and pleasing conclusion to their land sale.
Joshua has been keenly interested in conservation, land management, and habitat improvement since he was a teenager using his dad's old Ford tractor to plant food plots for deer on the family farm. One of his favorite times of year is late Summer when it's time to plant Fall/Winter food plots. He has planted 1,000+ trees over the years, and also has experience with native warm season grass plantings and timber stand improvement. Joshua has tried hard to pass on his love of the outdoors and hunting to his children and always enjoys spending time with them in the field and seeing their successes.
When Joshua wasn't out at the farm hunting as a boy, he was usually doing something sports-related. He played competitive baseball, soccer, basketball, and was a nationally ranked tennis player, and still plays tennis to this day. He also was a nationally competitive amateur pianist. Joshua enjoys photography, history, classical music, is a voracious reader, and loves traveling, having visited 15 countries. More than anything else, he loves his wife and watching his kids grow up with a love of God's Creation and the wonderful outdoors.
